Research Committee

Committee Chair: George Lopez, MD, PhD, FNCS
Committee Co-Chair: Yousef Hannawi, MD

The Research Committee establish research funding priorities both independently and in partnership with the Neurocritical Care Society (NCS). It collaborates with the Neurocritical Care Research Center (NCRC) to ensure that efforts are maintained to achieve annual funding goals. The committee also manages, audits, and disperses funding for research activities. The funding priorities are determined and overseen by the foundation's board of trustees.

  • Airway, Ventilation and Sedation
  • Cardiac Arrest
  • Stroke
  • Intracerebral Hemorrhage
  • Subarachnoid Hemorrhage
  • Traumatic Brain Injury
  • Traumatic Spinal Cord Injury
  • Spinal Cord Compression
  • Status Epilepticus
  • Meningitis and Encephalitis

Education Committee

Committee Chair: Pouya Ameli, MD, MS
Committee Co-Chair: Ben Emanuel, DO

The Education Committee establishes educational funding priorities both independently and in partnership with the NCS. It will partner with the NCS Educational Products Committee (NCS EPC) to ensure that efforts are maintained to achieve funding goals with ongoing NCS educational activities. The committee also manage, audit, and disperse funding for educational activities not sponsored or initiated by the NCS EPC. The funding priorities will be determined and overseen by the board of trustees and the funding goals will be determined by the board of trustees.

Development & Philanthropy Committee

Committee Chair: Corey R. Fehnel, MD, MPH, FAAN
Committee Co-Chair: Imoigele P. Aisiku (Imo), MD, MBA

The Development & Philanthropy Committee establishes new strategies to meet funding priorities in neurocritical care research and education both independently and in partnership with the NCS. It will partner with the NCS to ensure that efforts are maintained to achieve funding goals with ongoing NCS research and educational activities excluding the annual meeting and those activities that are part of the business plan of the NCS. It will also manage fundraising for philanthropic activities not sponsored or initiated by the NCS. The committee will actively support and maintain NCCF target of 10% or less for administrative costs from donated funds. The NCS Board of Trustees will determine and manage the funding priorities of the foundation.
